Obstetricians
Obstetricians are physicians with specialized education and training in the medical management of pregnancy, labour and birth. They are qualified to manage serious complications of pregnancy and have surgical training for performing caesarean births. An obstetrician can work with your family physician or midwife if you have complications during your pregnancy or birth.

You will require a referral from a family physician or midwife in order to be cared for by an obstetrician.

All obstetrician services are covered by the BC Medical Services Plan.
Dr. Jose L. Goncalves

Established in Penticton since January 2000, Dr. Goncalves' mission is to provide personalized high-quality obstetrical, gynecological, and gynecological surgical care on an as-needed or preventative basis. He believes in providing comprehensive health care services to patients in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, in a homey setting (office is in a house), and with an antique themed decor. His is a "one-of-a-kind" office!

Dr. Julie Ryckman
​
Dr. Julie Ryckman is a graduate of the University of Ottawa (2013) and the University of Manitoba (2008), and has been practicing obstetrics and gynaecology in Penticton since 2014. She offers primary obstetrical care to women with lower risk and higher risk pregnancies, and works in consultation with the South Okanagan Maternity Centre to provide comprehensive care to pregnant women. She also is the only provider of colposcopy services to patients in the region who have had an abnormal pap test.
